Two famous musicals with the same melody?
I like musicals very much. And there are some of them that are really master pieces , not only because of the music but also the performance.
But these two musicals, really famous , have caught my attention. Aren't the melodies worringly similar?

Hello Cyrene,
What is it that makes them sound similar to each other in your opinion?

The base of the melody is quite the same. It is quite usual in composers, because they have their own distinguishable style, recognisable in all their pieces . But it is not so common when the pieces belong to different composers. The two musicals are absolutely different, but precisely these songs, which are very catchy , are quite alike.

I couldn't hear this similarity in these two melodies.I like them both, although The Phantom of the Opera is more beautiful in my opinion.

I am sorry Cyrene, but I can also not hear any conspicuous similarity.
