The Wise Woman and the Traveler
An excellent short story by an unknown author....
A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime, yet a few days later he returned to give the stone back to the wise woman. "I've been thinking," he said, "I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone."

It is a nice reminder for everyone to think about the person who we saw in such a light like a young traveler saw that wise woman.

A wise anecdote followed by an inspiring question!
I don't have an answer (unfortunately), but I do offer another question for contemplation.

What would it take for you to act as the wise woman in the story?
What trait(s) would you need to possess?

Good question Jade.
Grace,wisdom, humbleness...
And what traits one need to possess in order to act as a traveller when turning back with a stone?

I would say happiness and wisdom.
Which makes me wonder.... if one if wise, does that mean that one is automatically happy as well? Or is it possible to be wise and unhappy?
And what traits one need to possess in order to act as a traveller when turning back with a stone?
Intelligence and curiosity.
