Well, it is a first for me... green ants! Most have heard of red or black ants of all kinds... well, Australia has some green ones too. But! That's not the interesting part... see for yourself...

Tasty and nutritious... :)

I have been bitten by ants before, but... definitely not so many at once. It's very interesting, I just hope people don't start going crazy over green ants, as they did over sharks, etc. for similar reasons.

Interesting ... I certainly would be respectful of the green ants and their colonies, and leave well enough alone! No tasting desired on my behalf.

Wood Ants of Belarus

Well, since the green ants of Australia went over so nicely here are the wood ants of Belarus. I apologize for the other off topic pieces within this clip... This clip is from a series in which Ray Mears talks about different real life survival situations of the past... and most had to do with war time situations.

Anyway... the beginning part of this clip is on making an oil out of tree sap... and it isn't even complete (they aren't my clips)... and then comes the part about the wood ants... you can of course watch further but it isn't necessary for this topic.

You can find his DVDs and more at:

Ryan, I ended up watching the entire video. I'm so fascinated by ants - from a distance. Collectively they're so industrious, which is astounding. A little community that peacefully works together for a common purpose.

I think I shall stick with the mindset of ... an apple a day, keeps the doctor away ... Lols ;)
