I consider the whole Knowing Nature as learning about that how to survive not only on a desert island but in the nature if something unexpected happens (like that what you have told about the woman and her twisted ankle in the topic How to be seen! how-to-be-seen!-p4322.html#p4322
And these unexpected events are always possible.

From my understanding our brains record and remember practically everything... at the very least much more than we are consciously aware of, and can have almost total recall of any past situation down to the smells in the air... And while it makes perfect sense that in high stress situations and panic one forgets things... if he were hypnotized and through the power of suggestion such things should be resolved fairly quickly... no?

I agree that will equip us better. There are so many other things that can be helpful if known in such kind of situations. The most important one I think is how to keep the control, not to panic and get rid of fear. None of these three is helpful, and each can only cause damages. If one learns how to master these and additionally learns these things you have been presented us lately, then it really makes a difference.
