Ownership
Spanish woman 'claims' she owns the Sun is the headline of a news article.
I think this nicely illustrates/demonstrates the ridiculousness of the whole concept of ownership.
A 49-year-old Spanish lady has claimed to be the owner of Sun.
Angeles Duran from Spain's soggy region of Galicia said that she registered the star at a local notary public as being her property after learning about the American man, who registered moon and most planets in our solar system as his property.here is an international agreement, which states that no country may claim ownership of a planet or star, but it says nothing about individuals, she added.
"There was no snag, I backed my claim legally, I am not stupid, I know the law. I did it but anyone else could have done it, it simply occurred to me first," the New York Post quoted her as telling online edition of daily El Mundo.
The document issued by the notary public declares Duran to be the "owner of the Sun, a star of spectral type G2, located in the center of the solar system, located at an average distance from Earth of about 149,600,000 kilometers."
She said she now wants to slap a fee on everyone who uses the sun and give half of the proceeds to the Spanish government and 20 percent to the nation's pension fund.
"It is time to start doing things the right way, if there is an idea for how to generate income and improve the economy and people's wellbeing, why not do it?" she concluded. (ANI)

Re: Ownership
Well if she's going to donate the money to the Spanish govt it'll help out repaying their debt. Perhaps Greece should lay claim to the cosmos, after all didn't they invented the idea.

Yeah.. sounds good, except that if everyone were to truly pay their dues then anyone's debts, no matter how high, would be repaid within an extremely short time, and what then?
Dermot, Chessa,
Since we are laying down claims here, and the Sun, rain and air are already taken
I would register thoughtlessness/inconsideration. If anyone still decides to be thoughtless or inconsiderate, they would just have to pay me.
Ha!
I would naturally give 99.9% of the proceeds as I see fit.
Hmmmm.........

Re: Ownership
Bahahaha even with donating 99percent of the profits (dues!) you would still be one hella wealthy woman
Okay. So, the elements are taken. Therefore I shall be the Goddess of Procrastination. When I get around to it. Later.
