Welcome to DS. I like your choice of the music for the soul.

As a about prayer, I do not know for others, but they are moments when from somewhere deep inside some words just need to come out; words not learned, rituals not learned, but just a moment when I am somehow in need to express them so that they stay in the air.
Sometimes these moments are a kind of expression of gratitude, sometimes an inner dialogue when I need to express how I would like to see things, sometimes just a poem.
Whatever form, prayer or however we would call it, I think it should be spontaneous urge, personal and not directed from anyone. Only then it is an expression of graceful harmony with self and others.

Eloquently put Mirjana. Hi, I just discovered this website the other day. Seems like a mature website among a zillion weird ones..LOL....I'm just looking for peoples opinions on prayer. In my own opinion I don't think prayer is needed if you've put in the work to maintain a correct clean pure consciousness. I think that is what a lot of the old sages spoke about. When I used to pray it was mostly out of fear of something I did or for some desire.

... it is self evident , that my needs are met.
a journey absorbing the differences berween desires , wants , images and needs , confirm this.

... Clarity , attracts as my experiences ,
a journey towards Presence , unfolds that awareness.

... Clarity , expresses Itself in my body ,
my journey to honour those knowings asks questions of Respect.

... Clarity flows through me ,
but am i humble enough , to get out of my own way ?

My prayer is Thankyou.

... for the Courage to trust , that Trust Is enough
... for the honour so granted , in leaving Love and Luck in my wake.

My prayer could beseech ,
for many images from the world of right and wrong , remain unmet ,
but i figure , all that , is just an ego's screech.

an inner rthythm leads , by catalyst or allowance.

My ability to respond , is given me.
... within this paradigm , i find 'my' fulfillment.

I will , Be Who I Am.
I will , again , hear the words ... 'Well done , our true and faithful servant.'
All is well . I Am Peace of mind.

Hi QuietMind, my early associations with Prayer were like yours i think, in that it was a formulaic response by those who looked outside of themselves for a Deity to adore/fear.

Its really only a word, and means lots of different things to lots of different people i would imagine. The thinking or energy behind the idea of Prayer might be easier to accept it one dropped the age old meanings / and or prejudices around the word.

I think its probably a good idea to express gratitude for the good things that happen, maybe also to have a feeling of wanting good things for oneself and others....the essential idea of Prayer would be an easy and immediate response to those feelings. They are but thoughts and can be just that, but in acknowledging a moment we are giving energy to powerful thought in the guise of a wish, or a prayer.

Having to make a decision to drop the idea of Prayer when one sees oneself following a correct path....is maybe ego at play, the mind loves to play with words.....its the feeling behind them thats important. I hope !!
