Irish memoirs about exile in america - literature
I'm currently finishing my master's degree in Ireland and I have a thesis of 100 pages to write about Irish Memoirs - Exiles in America.
I've based my study on Frank McCourt (both Angela's Ashes and 'Tis), as they are the classic exile stories on the 20th century. The aim is to study and compare the authors' inner-feelings, their views about the homeland/exile longings, the encountering of the 'otherland' and their existential journeys.
If you know any writers who could help, it would be much much appreciated

Check out books and articles written by Pete Hamill. He was a journalist for a New York paper for a long time. I think he wrote some books about growing up in NYC as an Irish kid. Good luck. Tim
