Deep Spirits

After staying close to home for the better part of 3 weeks, I woke up this morning with a raging case of cabin fever. So I packed up a novel, journal, and a little cash, left my phone on the desk, and headed out the door.

Gotta admit, I felt a little trepidation. Barring a single delivered pizza, this was the first time I've eaten out since becoming vegetarian. I didn't need to. The waitress at IHOP didn't even bat an eye when I asked her to please hold the bacon. I've always loved breakfast food, and looking at the menu today I think I'm gonna be leaning toward breakfast-y foods even more! (Oh the pain, oh the agony...oh the sarcasm!)

Even better than that, though, I was able to spend some time at a park. I keep forgetting that I need green-time almost as urgently as I need food or oxygen; settling down beside the lake today eased an ache I'd forgotten was there. So I sat on my bench and fed the ducks, soaking up sunshine and water-sound.

All around, I had a lovely holiday, a much needed day of rest.
