Great things and small deeds

Denis Diderot, a French philosopher, writer and art critic, said:

"Only passions, great passions, can elevate the soul to great things."

I like the quote and it makes sense.

However, Lao Tzu said:

"Great acts are made up of small deeds."

Which is, without doubt, true as well.

Either Lao Tzu or Confucius said..

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

A single step leading to small deeds amounting to or building up to great things.
Therefore, never underestimate the power of a single step.
Keep this in mind as you walk.

One's passion could be defined as a series of small deeds focused on a specific subject or area. Thus both quotes are in a way portraying the same truth.

Here's also an interesting quote (I am unaware of who said it):

"The evolving soul is not made divine by what it does, but by what it strives to do. "

It is not so important that we should always act effectively and with success, at least for the individual, but that we should at least make the effort. Every failure is a lesson to be learned and every success a step closer towards perfection.
