An Afternoon with a Great Mind
The Time Machine is filled with inspiring people, the greatest minds of the past 20 centuries.
If you could spend a whole day with one of them, and only one, whom would you choose and why?

It's a toss up between Da Vinci and Michelangelo... but would I need to learn Italian first??

You could just take one of those handy universal translators with you. :)
Yes, you would have to learn Italian first.
Would you learn it in order to be able to communicate with one of them?

It would be great to spend the whole day with Plato and talk about all these ideas that have always fascinated me since I have read his work and learned about him.
I love his world of ideas and the Form of Good and the way how to achieve it ;
To psychology he left the world of shadow (therefore I also love C.G.Jung) and that only by coming out to the light(metaphor of cave), we shall be able to be free and able to really see;
His legacy to humanity by explaining Moderation, Emotional Balance(IQ&EQ) and Self acquaintance as ultimate human achievement is something very close to my heart and understanding of true values;
His need to spread knowledge through Academy that lasted for thousand years is how I see the role of leading human minds;
I love his ideas about dreams and two halves of souls who are in search for each other in order to become one(soul mates or kindred souls)
Oh, I would enjoy such a talk very much.
It would be a never ending talk.Mirjana

I would probably also choose an afternoon with Plato (or Socrates), there is only one problem.
He is not in the Time Machine.
He is one of the ancient sages, because he lived before the common era, and the Time Machine includes people from the last 20 centuries, so a bit after his time.

Thumbs up Sabina. I love this comment.Having this in mind, my choice will be Avicena or Gurdjieff. Actually it is a very hard question, so many brilliant minds and I do love many of them.
Why these two? I have discovered the brilliancy of Avicena and would like to "talk" with him about his knowledge in herbs and astronomy. And Gurdjieff is such an extraordinary mystic that I do not know if one afternoon will be enough to cover all my questions. Between others to learn his dancing steps.

I would choose to spend one day in the company of Jesus.
It would be an opportunity to see how he really looked like, the way he talked and walked and feel the love he radiated.

Heidi,
That's a very nice thought... As tempting as that prospect sounds though I would have to say Thoreau or Tolstoy. The fact that they existed fills me with hope and love and something else that I don't quite know how to put into words. Since I have to choose one, then my answer would be Thoreau.

Mirjana, you wondered IF one afternoon would be enough time
for hearing what a Great Mind would have to say:
My belief is we could not hear ALL folks with Great Minds like
Socrates, Abe Lincoln and your favorite would have to say
in less time then an eternity, PLUS TWO weeks.
ps my third choice would be OMAR THE TENTMAKER.
