The Incredible Hans Zimmer

I think Hans Zimmer deserves a topic for himself in our musical forum, as he is definitely one of the best contemporary composers. He was born on September 12th 1957, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and....
Hans Zimmer is completely self-taught!
I just discovered that myself... so I must admit, I admire him even more now.

His first Oscar nomination was in 1988 for the musical score of Rain Man.
In 1994 his score for The Lion King brought him an Oscar, a Golden Globe, 2 Grammy awards, and various other awards. In 2003 he composed his 100th score, for The Last Samurai. His contribution to the motion pictures has been immense, and so I would like to include a few of my many favorites composed by Hans Zimmer.

I hope you enjoy them and please feel free to add yours!

I will begin with the latest creation, from the movie Inception, simply because I can't get enough of it right now... I keep playing it over and over...
This track is called Dream is Collapsing.

"You have to remain flexible, and you must be your own critic at all times."
~Hans Zimmer

Discombobulate, from Sherlock Holmes

A piece of the Barbastella track, from Batman Begins

Red Warrior, from The Last Samurai

Instinct, from Green Card

Am I Not Merciful, from Gladiator

PS: Have you ever wondered which is Hans Zimmer's favorite movie theme?

It's "Assault on Precinct 13" (1976), composed by John Carpenter. :)

"If something happened where I couldn't write music anymore, it would kill me. It's not just a job. It's not just a hobby. It's why I get up in the morning."
~Hans Zimmer
