This is an absolute must-see!

Based on Muriel Barbery's best-selling novel L'Élégance du hérisson (The Elegance of the Hedgehog)

I have thoroughly enjoyed every second of this movie.

Sabina,
I have finally had a pleasure to see this peace of art. I agree with you completely that this is an absolute must-see.
Thank you very much for this recommendation. I have also enjoyed every second of this. It doesn´t happen often to see the movie where everything is so naturally beautiful , evolving from second to second smoothly into the unusual story that touches the deepest corners of the soul.
I am very thankful to my daughter who made it possible for me to see it. ;0)
I can only recommend it further staying very curious to hear other opinions.

The movie is nice but if you have the chance to read the book, it's much better. Very well written, and all the characters are described much more thouroughly...

Thank you, Azur. In most cases book is better than the movie. I shall find the book and read it too. I can imagine that reading this must be a great pleasure.
Still, when I think about this movie, I cannot imagine that in the short time of one movie more can be said in such an original, warm and deep way with so much pleasure the same time.

Azur, I completely missed your reply until now. 80|

It must be so... any time a movie is based on a book it can only do so much to cover "everything", and so it may be a little short in one thing or another. I haven't read the book but I like Mirjana's comment. For two hours worth of time it told a beautiful story. Finding out more about the characters would definitely be worth picking up the book, though I wonder how it would be for me since I have watched the movie first. It can never be the same as it would have been if I picked up the book first, unaffected by the movie.
