I use music as my own kind of therapy.
For example, if I am sad, I will play sad music, something that perfectly fits my mood, so I'll roll with the current mood, and then I gradually change the music, and my mood changes with it, rising.
That always works.
Whatever caused my mood to be down is obviously not affected by this, but I am then completely ok to deal with it, with a clear head, and in good spirit.

Here are a few mood samples...

Sad to desperate: Dead Can Dance, The Host Of Seraphim

Bitter: A Perfect Circle, Passive

On my way back: Greensleeves
(I can never decide which version to take of those available online)

And finally, this is my suggestion as the anthem of humankind :)
A Perfect Circle, Imagine

or John Lennon's version

I haven't really included a happy song yet. I will.

Metallica - Dyers Eve

Postby Ryan » Sat Jan 23, 2010 11:54 pm

This is my anthem for parenting...

As a teen I swore my child will never be able to point these accusations at me... at the time I was trying to cope with the world around me and outraged that I wasn't informed nor prepared to deal with life.

Dear mother, Dear father
What is this hell you have put me through

Believer, Deceiver
Day and day out I lived my life through you

Pushed onto me what's wrong or right
Hidden from this thing that they call life

Dear mother, Dear father
Every thought I'd think you'd disapproved

Curator, Dictator
Always censoring my every move

Children are seen but are not heard
Tear out everything inspired

Innocence, Torn from me without your shelter
Barred reality, I'm living blindly

Dear mother, Dear father
Time has frozen still what's left to be

Hear nothing, Say nothing
Cannot face the fact I think for me

No guarantee, it's life as is
But damn you for not giving me my chance

Dear mother, Dear father
You've clipped my wings before I learned to fly

Unspoiled, Unspoken
I've outgrown that f**king lullaby

Same thing I've always heard from you
Do as I say not as I do

Innocence, Torn from me without your shelter
Barred reality, I'm living blindly

I'm in hell without you
Cannot cope without you two
Shocked at the world that I see
Innocent victim please rescue me

Dear mother, Dear father
Hidden in your world you've made for me

I'm seething, I'm bleeding
Ripping wounds in me that never heal

Undying spite I feel for you
Living out this hell you always knew

Bonepony

Postby Ryan » Sun Jan 24, 2010 12:14 am

I like Bonepony their music is (to me) energetic and hopeful... here's a couple...

Feast of Life

I can feel the fire burn
Like morning rays upon my skin
Wind blown grains of desert sand
Like red-tailed hawks take to the wind

I've know the sweet caress
The power of tenderness
Whispers of a baby's sleep still echo in my mind

There's been the loneliness
A curse of my damned arrogance
I've felt the thunder and the power of the light
I've witnessed everything from the fine Feast of Life

Dreamers dream of far away
Ocean spray and dusty lands
Singing songs they've had to borrow
From open wounds of bitter men

I've know the sweet caress
The power of tenderness
Whispers of a baby's sleep still echo in my mind

There's been the loneliness
A curse of my damned arrogance
I've felt the thunder and the power of the light

I've witnessed everything
I've seen the mystery
I've tasted everything
from the fine Feast of Life

Seeds of Peace

Re:When soul recognizes The Music

Postby mirjana » Wed Jan 27, 2010 12:23 am

This music is elevating and touches me to the bottom of my soul. If there were a memory of the whole life, before, now and in the future, where everything come united in the understanding of that what and who one is, it is within these notes for me. My soul is in it completely, it is a trance, it is a joy, and it is genesis.
