How do you organize your books?

Alphabetization, genre, country, theme, publication date – I tried a bit of all but gave up. It would be nice to leave everything in disorder but that takes too much room ...

How do you arrange your books, if you arrange them at all?

Our library is organized by genre on the shelves and by authors/genre in the computer.

Right now I have, at least some, of them arranged so that the titles tell a story. For example, I have the following on my bookshelf in order: The Things They Carried, On the Road, Out of Africa, To Kill a Mockingbird. It's just a silly way to do it. And it is fun when people notice.

First by genre, and then within those groups by language, and within each of those alphabetically.
