Let's see what I can share from over here in South Carolina, USA to maybe join in the DS way of living: I'm listening to Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings in concert, recorded live at the 2010 Newport Folk Music Festival. The current song, "She Ain't a Child No More," is about how a child who is abused will soon grow up and out from under her parents' influence... she will take back control. "You never thought she'd call the law" is a great line.

My question to the group is, "When did you know you weren't a child anymore?"

My second question is, "Have you at some point discovered that you are still a child in some ways, after all?"

Tamara. welcome to DS =0) It is good that you started your posting with this topic as here you could see some of DS members together who have been living in quite different part of the globe. It has been a nice feeling to be like that together, although our friend Dermot is right about me, it looks like I am being held against my will. =0@ Actually it was a moment of laughing and as for me, not the best moment to take photos. But, in spite of that how it looks, it has been a spontaneous moment. =0/

Your question: "When did you know you weren't a child anymore?"

Well, I had three immediate associations when I read your question.
- When we lose both parents;
- When we let us discourage so hard that we lose that Peter Pan part of self;
- One of my favorite movies is "Under Tuskany Sun". One of characters quotes few times during the move the words of Federico Fellini and importance of that not to lose that part of us, ever. Or, when we are very down, we should just watch children on the street helping this part of us to be reconnected.

Your second question is connected with the first one. Personally, I do believe that I have never lost that part of myself.

I am still a child... I've never been an adult... of course, that is the assessment of things based upon my own understanding of what a child/adult is...

I like the story of Peter Pan... and that is pretty much the grounds on which I define "child" and "adult". A child, for me, is someone that remains curious, adventurous, creative, imaginative, spontaneous, emotional, nonjudgmental and the list goes on and on... but I think these are the most important... and must all exist to remain a child. That does not mean a child is not responsible, concentrated, or consequent... being a child does not exclude any characteristics... becoming an "adult"... for me... is the loss of characteristics... And mostly the loss of those characteristics which bring life to life.

I don't know about all that, but I am suddenly acutely aware that there are far too many David's in one place for anybody's health...

Don't say that!!
Having many people by the name of David only leads one to be more creative, and then we come up with names like Daviso, or you named yourself "Lost" in another topic, right?

Nothing wrong with multiple Davids, the more the merrier!

Yeah, except with these Davids it takes special training to survive them... I speak from experience xD I mean, they're lovely lads and so much fun to be around :P Am I right or am I right? xD

And as for the question...

I'm still a child!! I'll second what Ryan said, I'm too special to become an adult... =0/ ;0)

I shiver to think what could happen if all three Davids (Dermot, Daywhite, and Iso) all managed to be in the same place at the same time. If it DOES somehow happen, make sure I'm invited, 'cause that's a scene I really don't want to miss!

Dermot is still a Dermot, although I once named him Red Tom, or something similar. ;0)

Whoops....Sorry, Metatron...and Dermot! I did not mean to mix y'all up!

(Yeesh, I must be slipping-- how could someone who's spent as many hours studying angels as me have missed Metatron????)
